Marymount College Game Summary

The very young Mariners Women�s Lacrosse program competed in their season home opener on Sunday morning against a very experienced Cal Poly Mustangs. The story behind the game was the draw controls. The draw control in Women�s Lacrosse similar to the Face Off in men�s lacrosse is crucial for possession opportunities. That is where Cal Poly had the clear advantage over Marymount. Cal Poly won 87% of the draw controls as they kept possession for most of the first half. However, Marymount persevered in the second half with a stellar job from their team defense. They beat Cal Poly in the take away category that lead to numerous fast breaks for the Mariners. The Marymount College Women�s Lacrosse program will head back to work on February 24th as they head to USC.
