The Marymount College Woman’s Lacrosse program was full speed this week competing in 3 games since Sunday morning. They were affiliated with the University of Santa Barbaras friendship games that included two international programs from Japan. They fought against Nihon University during the first leg of the weekend, then Santa Barbara Community College to close out the evening on Sunday. Later they rivaled on Tuesday night vs Meiji University in Birmingham stadium. In all three contests the Mariners fell short, but we have seen a tremendous turn around in their team defense. In every game this season the Mariners have lead the game in take-aways as they have really improved in trapping in the corners causing turnovers. Leading that defense is Freshman Midfielder Lindsay Green who alone has had 7 interceptions in 4 games. In addition, the ground ball production has also taken a turn. Freshman Peggy Wall leads the Mariners in ground balls with 21, as she creates fast break after fast break. The Mariners return to action April 6th as they head north to play against the UCLA Bruins!
